What does it mean?
The word “antipodes,” much like the play itself, has a variety of different meanings. Geographically, the antipode of any location is the point directly across the globe from it. For example, the antipode of Wellington, New Zealand, is Alaejos, Spain. These two cities are on the opposite sides of the earth, about 12,427 miles from each other. Similarly, “antipodes” can also mean the exact opposite of a person or thing. As an adverb, “antipodally” describes two things that are in direct opposition, or at odds with one another.
